Renewable Energy Satellite Internet Skid (RESIS) delivers solar-powered VSAT
BROUSSARD, Louisiana (August 4, 2015)—BlueTide Communications (BlueTide) announces a powerful new solar unit for connectivity in disaster recovery efforts or for isolated locations. Through its Renewable Energy Satellite Internet Skid (RESIS), BlueTide now offers first responders and businesses with critical information needs the ability to prepare for and mitigate compromised communications situations as well as to maintain ongoing operations in logistically remote locales.
“Establishing and maintaining connectivity for remote land locations can be challenging,” explains BlueTide Managing Director Emil Regard. “In addition, cell phones and internet availability are often not immediately accessible in a crisis situation. But with RESIS, satellite-based connectivity for internet and voice communications can be quickly established even in the most isolated locations.”
Portable and compact, RESIS fits in the bed of a standard pick-up truck for convenient mobile transport and, with a nine-day battery capacity replenished through a state-of-the-art solar charging panel, it contains a reliable and renewable power source. Compatible with multiple networks, RESIS features a high-throughput satellite router, multi-megabit capacity and scalable power configurations based on a location’s active solar time. Remote power monitoring—including email and text alerts—makes RESIS a powerful communications asset for remote location connectivity as well as for emergency response and relief support.
Components of RESIS include a 1.2 Meter VSAT antenna, one (1) 305-watt, 24 volt solar panel, six (6) batteries, control panel with modem, router and wireless access point (WAP). This configuration is capable of sustaining power seamlessly up to 9 days without active solar hours. Additionally, the skid’s wireless network is fully-managed through BlueTide’s VAN solution with bandwidth and user control options to prioritize critical applications.
